Kannon's earned him the prestigious first-place honor at the 2024 Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Eastern Regional Art Contest held on March 5, 2024. This accolade is not just a personal victory for Kannon but a historic moment for Tappahannock Elementary School, marking the first time it has been recognized with a first-place selection in this annual event.
The VSBA Art Contest showcases the artistic talents of Virginia’s public school students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Each year, school board members from the region come together to select winners from a pool of entries that represent the best of each school division. The contest, which began in 1989, aims to highlight and promote the artistic capabilities of students, with the winning art pieces being framed and displayed at the VSBA offices in Charlottesville.
